Bonjour parents and students,
Many families have expressed an interest in travelling to France next school year. I have been working with ACIS, a leader in educational travel, and have been able to customize a trip especially for our group. We will need 25 participants registered by June 2nd to lock in this price. This trip is open to all SMCC students who are registered to study French during the 2017-2018 school year. Parents are also welcome to participate in this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Here are a few details to note:
Travel dates: June 11-June 20, 2018 (tentative dates)
Student Price: $4506 (this is $100 cheaper than the trip we took in 2015)
Adult Price: $4961 (Double occupancy room)
Adult Price: $5361 (Single occupancy room)
There is an automatic payment plan available.
Travel insurance is included in the tour cost; however for an additional fee you may select one of two other plans available. (Details available at www.acis.com)
Trip highlights
4 days in Paris: Eiffel Tower, Louvre museum, Orsay museum, Montmartre and Sacré Coeur Basilica, Notre Dame Cathedral, boat cruise on the River Seine, the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysées
Rouen: the magnificent cathedral and Rouen’s historical connection to Joan of Arc
The Palace of Versailles: the residence of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette (Note: You will walk through the Hall of Mirrors where the Treaty of Versailles was signed to end World War I)
Loire Valley: visit some exquisite castles (Chenonceau, Chambord, Amboise)
Attend mass at the St. Vincent Cathedral in St. Malo (the French Explorer Jacques Cartier received the bishop’s blessing before leaving to discover Canada in 1535)
St. Malo: a walled city along the sea that takes you back in time.
Normandy: World War II sites (American Cemetery, 360 Cinema of the D-day invasion, Omaha beach)
Mont St. Michel: a medieval abbey, once a pilgrimage site
I encourage everyone to visit the ACIS website www.acis.com to learn more about this exceptional travel company. Once I know there are enough parents and students interested, I will work with ACIS to customize this trip to further meet our group’s interests and needs. A meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 23rd at 6:30 in room 109 for all parents of interested students. Students may attend but are not required. If you are unable to attend please email me at [email protected] and I will gladly call you or set up a more convenient time to meet.
I am looking forward to seeing you soon!
Mme Denise Wiederhold
A final note:
The $200 deposit and completed registration form (available at the meeting) will be due to me on June 2nd. I will register everyone as one group and mail everything to ACIS. Please do not register online.
